Danam is the name Janet Freeman uses for her yoga and chanting teaching. I initially trained and worked as a physicist. After obtaining the British Wheel of Yoga Diploma I specialised within what was then known as the Viniyoga approach, as a student of Ranju Roy, now Executive Director of The Association for Yoga Studies. I became a registered practitioner in 1998 on completion of the four year Stage Three training programme with Paul Harvey.

I am particularly interested in the relationship between the practical expression of yoga through postures and breathing practices and its rich tradition of personal transformation and development.

These interests also find expression in my work in the area of Vedic chanting. I am one of the small number of registered Vedavalli chant teachers in the UK.

A major feature of this approach is that teachers never cease to be students. I continue my yoga and chanting studies with her teacher, Paul Harvey, a senior student of TKV Desikachar, and founder of Viniyoga Britain, now known as The Association for Yoga Studies.
