Red Flower Self-knowledge is the aim of study within yoga - not in a self-centred or narcissistic way, but as a way to develop a deeper understanding of the true nature of the self and of our relationships. Traditionally this would have come from a study of the scriptures, directed by a teacher. For the contemporary student there are many options, including various forms of therapy.

Athough traditionally study often started by memorising the text that was being studied, and it seems that the teachers had a phenomenal range of knowledge, the goal of study in this context is not knowledge, but understanding, or wisdom.

On this web-site I would like to offer a very small part of the available writings on yoga, principally the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which many see as the definitive yoga text.
