There are many Indian writings on yoga. One of the best known is Patanjali’s Yogasutras, which sets down traditional teachings on the practice and theory of yoga.

The four chapters cover meditation, practice, results and liberation.

I would like to thank my teachers for sharing their knowledge with me, and to apologise for any distortions I have introduced.

Chapter 1 gives the definition of yoga and discusses the path of meditation for someone whose mind is calm and steady.

Chapter 2 gives some practices for the rest of us to reduce our distractions.

Chapter 3 describes some of the effects of being completely focussed on different objects.

Chapter 4 describes the possibilities when your mind is thoroughly refined.
